On my recent holiday in Cape Town and discovered that the Design Indaba Expo was on at the weekend, so I popped along to check out the local talent and was really impressed by what I saw. Lots of lovely fabric designs from Indigi designs (run by the lovely Natalie), love milo, Fabric Nation, Unwrapped, Marieke Adams, tamelia, my favourite colour, Claudetee Maskell and Mantis to name a few. Fantastic jewellery, beadwork, baskets, ceramics and some really gorgeous furniture from the likes of Vogel Design, tonic and Okha Design & Interiors. Check out a few pics and links below. I'll be making sure I get down to Woodstock and visit The Foundry as well as the Biscuit Mill and also Skinny La Minx's new shop in Bree street.
Fabulous fabric and funky furniture and lighting with an indigenous theme from Indigi Designs
And I was out and about again on the 27th March at the Bethnal Green Vintage Furniture Flea.
I love the East End, maybe because my family roots are there and there's such a creative buzz. So I packed my wares into my car and scooted over to set up my stall. Here's what it looked like! (sorry about the fuzzy pics, must've been all the coffee!)
On the 19th March I had a stall at the The Kensal Flea held at the Paradise in Kensal Green. I used to live nearby and really miss it so it was great to be back in my old neighbourhood. I really enjoyed my day and meeting some new customers.
As well as bringing my vintage cushions, I launched my new table cloths and 'Modern Retro' fabric in a range of new colourways which went down a storm!
I'm really enjoying working at home this week, despite having fallen prey to a stinking cold. I burned myself out last week getting ready for my 15 minutes of fame (filming for ITV's, May the Best House Win) but that's another story! Having spent all of today and most of yesterday working on my own designs, I'm really in the zone. On many a week I've watched the clock, willing the weekend to come sooner, but this week I'm doing the exact opposite. The week can't be long enough for me. To be able to really get my head down and get my ideas onto paper is so enjoyable. You'll be able to see the fruits of my labours in time, for the moment I'm posting a pic of my inspiration board.
I'll be at the Midcentury Modern show in Dulwich college on November 14th. I'll have all my cushions and bits of furniture that I'm working one, see upcoming blogs for the progress of my latest refurb project!
On from 10am til 4pm, there'll be a massive selection of Mid Mod delights!
A big thank you to everyone who took part in my online survey. For those of you who entered the prize draw, the winner has now been picked from a vintage hat by my impartial and lovely boyfriend Mark. Congratulations Lizzie, I hope you enjoy your two new cushions. But, don't forget everyone's a winner and gets 15% off their next purchase.
